My Sketches

I've uploaded my bird sketches, finally. They're nothing fancy -- I just draw for fun. All the birds I've sketched are birds that I've seen. And please, do not steal my images; if you want to use them for anything, just email me!
Above is a Black and White Warbler, a very cool bird as far as I'm concerned! :-)

These are two of my life birds seen in Maine, the Wilson's Storm Petrel (freaky drawing, I know) at the top, and the Atlantic Puffin, below.

More Maine life birds: Peregrine Falcon at the top, and a Piping Plover at the bottom.

And finally, a little bird from home, the American Goldfinch.

Happy Birding!

  • Cool sketches. I can sort of sketch but I couldn't draw like that to save my life. lol

I also note you have two birds that i don't. The Storm-petrel and the Puffin. They are so cool birds.
hehe, I've been everywhere except on a Pelagic trip. lol

    Happy Birding! --Chris

  • Thanks! I think your sketches are good (I saw them on your blog).

I agree -- Storm Petrels and Puffins are very cool. If you're ever up on the coast of Maine, definitely take the opportunity to see these birds, if you can. I saw them both on the same trip, as well as some other amazing birds.

  • Thanks. I still think they could be a bit better though.

I was up in Maine. last summer. even stopped by Acadia NP. still missed Puffins and most of the pelagics. huh, even took a whale trip on the bay of fundy and missed all but one pelagic. next year ('08) im gonna do my darndest to catch up on them.

Are you familiar with the ABA's young birder camps?

  • Aww, too bad you missed all the pelagics! :-( Good luck catching up on them next year, though!

I'm not familiar with the ABA's birding camps -- I didn't even know they had camps. I'll have to go look into that.

I did attend an Audubon Society camp this past summer, though, which was absolutely amazing.

Well, good luck with your birding!

  • Hehe, Not only did I miss the Eastern Pelagics, but I missed the Western ones too. Not one pelagic between Washington's Olympic peninsula and Victoria Island. Then, on the Island, I somehow missed the resident Sky Larks. lol oh well.

Anyway, the ABA camps are listed on the ABA website under young birders.
I highly reccomend either Camps Yosemite (CA) or Chiricahua (Southeast AZ). I will be going to Chiricahua next summer. There is also High Island camp in TX that sounds fun.
